Purchasing PA Car Insurance

When purchasing PA car insurance, there are many confusing decisions to make. By making the wrong choices, your future and the future of your loved ones may be significantly compromised.  The chart below lists the minimum PA car insurance coverage required by state law. Unfortunately, individuals with only minimum PA car insurance coverage are generally significantly under insured.

The chart below also compares our law firm’s minimum recommendation for PA car insurance coverage.  This is the absolute minimum coverage that you should carry to protect yourself in the event of a car accident.

Lastly, the chart below compares our law firm’s overall recommendation for PA car insurance coverage.  Please note that you have the ability and the option to protect your interests under your own insurance policy.  Our firm’s overall recommended PA car insurance coverage may allow you to maximize your recovery.

Quick Overview of PA Car Insurance Coverage

Limited Tort vs. Full Tort

The most important choice you have is whether to select Limited Tort or Full Tort.  The tort option you choose will determine whether or not you can sue someone for pain and suffering.  If you select “Limited Tort,” then you have an additional burden in order to recovery for pain and suffering.  If you select “Full Tort,” then there is no additional burden, and you can sue for pain and suffering.

Difference Between “Fully Covered” and “Fully Insured”

There is a huge difference between being “fully covered” and being “fully insured.” This is a common misunderstanding; therefore, I will explain the difference between each.  When you finance or lease a vehicle, the bank or lender will require that you have collision coverage to repair or replace a vehicle in the event that you are involved in an car accident.  However, according to PA state law, you are not required to have “Full Tort,” which allows you to sue for both economic loss (i.e. medical bills and property damage) and non-economic damage (i.e. pain and suffering).  It is still very important to make sure that you selected “Full Tort” as your tort option to protect your future and the futures of your loved ones in the event of an automobile accident.

Please take the time to review, to compare, and to consider our law firm’s minimum recommendation and overall recommendation for PA car insurance coverage.  I cannot stress enough the importance of choosing the right PA car insurance coverage to protect your future and the futures of your loved ones.  By not making the right choices when purchasing PA car insurance coverage, the end result of an already terrible car accident can be even more catastrophic.

Purchasing PA car insurance can be frustrating and confusing.  Furthermore, you may not be getting the full explanation of the importance of each of these benefits.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Attorney Jason P. Provinzano for a free consultation.
